Thorough comprehensive evaluations, reviews of child’s records and ongoing progress assessment assures that programs are carefully individualized to meet the needs of each child. We believe that a child’s parents are an essential component of the therapeutic process, and encourage close interaction and participation throughout a child’s program. We work collaboratively with other health providers, physicians, psychologists, social workers, occupational and physical therapists, visual therapists, educational consultants, teachers, and the school’s multidisciplinary team to assure that a child’s social, emotional and academic needs are all met.  As an integral member of the child’s team, we offer consultation and advocacy, and make ourselves available to accompany our parents to school and team meetings whenever invited. Because we come to private practice having worked previously in the school setting, we have a true appreciation and understanding of school-based services and your child’s school dynamic. We work closely with our clients’ families and educational teams to problem-solve, assess intervention strategies and enhance communication across therapeutic settings.   We offer inservices and consultation upon invitation and are happy to help in any way that we can.

Children are seen individually, in dyads or triads.  Larger Social Pragmatic Communication Groups are offered for children possessing social cognitive deficits and are having trouble socializing with their peers.  We team together with other practices to offer co-facilitated groups.  Depending on the needs of the children the groups are facilitated by the speech and language therapist and a social worker or occupational therapist.

Additionally, we offer home and school visits and consultation.  Our therapists also offer a “push-in” model of intervention, in which the preschool aged child is seen within their classroom or camp setting, allowing for the opportunity to problem solve communication challenges with the teachers, and through consultation and direct intervention in the natural environment, to facilitate successful social interactions for the children.
